Every bride does it – the ring barely hits the finger before Pinterest is pulled up and the search for wedding inspiration begins! There are so many ways to find wedding inspiration the hardest part can be filtering all the ideas to figure out which one is your style. This can be different from your everyday style which makes it even harder! Pinterest, wedding magazines, blogs are all great places to find the hottest wedding trends. It doesn’t take long to find an article on how to incorporate Pantone’s color of the year or why your wedding cake should resemble a geode. But…what about the classic chignon hairstyle or a black tuxedo for the groom?
How do you decide whether to incorporate the trends or go classic with your style?
The biggest and best answer I can give you to that question is one word…photographs. When you look back on your wedding photos twenty years from now will you have fun reminiscing about your dress style that was all the rage back then or do you want to see something more classic that might stand the test of time?
When it comes to major life events, I tend to play it safe. For the dress, hairstyle and makeup I like to go classic, and then incorporate a fun pair of shoes or nail design. The decor is another place to throw in some trends if you want that extra flair. Either way you choose – make sure the design of the day represents who you are as a couple, as well as how you want the day to reflect in the photographs you will treasure years down the road.
